What It Costs to Build a Pool in Corpus Christi

Most homeowners in the Corpus Christi area budget somewhere from $55,000 to $200,000+ for a custom inground pool. Pool type is the biggest deciding factor.

Pool Type Typical Cost Range Timeline (Dig to Swim Day)
Gunite (Concrete) $55,000 to $200,000+ 6 to 12 weeks
Fiberglass $60,000 to $130,000+ 6 to 10 weeks

Where you land in that range also depends on:

Pool Types We Build in Corpus Christi

Two pool types, two different approaches. Here’s how they compare in this market.

Freeform gunite pool with rock waterfall

Gunite (Concrete)

Gunite is poured and shaped on your property, which means no two pools are identical. Shape, depth, finish, and every design detail are decided by you. If you want something that wraps around a covered patio, steps down a grade change, or incorporates a spa and water features as a single flowing design, gunite is built for that kind of project.

It takes slightly longer, typically 6 to 12 weeks from breaking ground to first swim, and the upfront cost is higher. But gunite holds its value well and lasts decades with proper maintenance. In a coastal market where outdoor living is central to how people use their homes, it’s the right call for most higher-end projects.

Fiberglass

A fiberglass pool arrives as a finished shell and drops into the excavated site in a single piece. The installation is faster. Some projects wrap up in 6 to 10 weeks, and the surface is smoother with less day-to-day upkeep than a pebble finish.

In Corpus Christi’s heat, lower chemical demand and easier cleaning are genuine day-to-day advantages.

The limitation is shape. You’re choosing from what’s available in the manufacturer’s catalog rather than designing from scratch. For straightforward projects on flat lots where speed and low maintenance are the priority, fiberglass is a solid choice.

One thing we don’t build: vinyl liner pools. They’re not a fit for the luxury market, and if you’re investing $60,000 or more in a pool, you deserve a finish that lasts longer and holds up better.

Our Pool Installation Process

Here’s what the process looks like from the first conversation to the day you swim:

For a full breakdown of every phase, see our Inground Pool Installation Process guide.

Pool Installation Timeline

These timelines run from breaking ground to first swim. Permitting is separate and adds 1 to 3 weeks.

Corpus Christi is one of the few markets in our service area where construction genuinely runs year-round without meaningful weather interruption. There’s no freeze season to work around and no hard stop in winter.

The main weather variable is wind. The Coastal Bend is one of the windiest parts of Texas, and high wind days can affect certain phases of construction.

A high water table, when it’s present, adds time and cost regardless of season. If your property is close to the coast or bay, we’ll check for it during the site visit and build that into the estimate, along with the well points needed to manage it.

If you want to be swimming by a specific date, the best move is to start planning earlier than you think you need to. Permitting timelines are the least predictable part of the process.

We’ll give you a realistic estimate during your consultation, not a best-case scenario.

10 out of 10 Recomend!!!
Jeremy and Ryan made our backyard Oasis easy and effortless! I am currently going through Chemotherapy treatment and with that being said … life is stressful! But having this pool installed was the exact opposite of that. They were always available to answer any questions we had. Jeremy explained in detail the process and all that it entailed. I left the office knowing exactly what would happen start to finish! Ryan was on site every day that work was being done. I never even had to come outside to check up on anything. He clearly communicated each and every step of the process. They say … “you get what you pay for” and my pool and the experience of it being built was worth every penny! You two are an awesome team!! I’m already thinking of a possible water feature and I’ll be calling you! Thank you for a a job well done!

Premier Pools was great to work with on a complete pool restoration, plaster, new coping and tile. Being in the construction business for 40 years I’m not easily impressed like I am with Premier. They were given a difficult deadline which they somehow managed. Their field superintendent, Ryan, was amazing. His communication during the process was five star, as well as his pleasant Demeanor. The entire process from the office staff, billing and construction could not be more professional. I highly recommend Premier Pools.

We had a fantastic experience with Premier Pools & Spas here in Corpus Christi (Port Aransas), Texas. We had several companies give us quotes, and we chose PP&S. The sales process at the start was smooth and professional. They met with us on site in our yard and listened to us, and then presented some beautiful CAD generated design options that were highly tailored to our desires and our yard. We then went into the office where we worked together real-time with the amazing CAD tools to finalize the design including even adjusting where each light should be placed. The CAD design tools were quite impressive, and we also discussed the construction process and learned about the quality of their materials including the rebar size and spacing, gunite, plaster, coping, stone, and decking options, and the equipment they use and why. They set clear expectations on their product, price, materials and construction process, and warranty. In short, their responsiveness and information shared during the initial sales phase was far above the others, and the price wasn’t the lowest we were quoted but seemed very fair for the product they promised. Once the contract was signed, the performance from PP&S continued to please and exceed our expectations. Ryan, our project manager, is just flat out the best we have ever experienced. Ryan’s performance and communication was outstanding and far better than any project manager we have ever worked with, and we have had other homes and pools built for us in the past (using other companies). As with any construction project, there were a few short delays and reschedules along the way due to weather or other issues where the crew availability changed slightly, but nothing major and no surprises. Ryan kept us well informed of the steps and phases and the schedule from start to finish. We always knew who was (or was not) coming to work at our home on what days and what they would be doing, and Ryan was on-site appropriately to ensure things were done correctly and to plan. While our expectation was for about 3 months, it took just over 2 months from initial dig day to having our pool complete. We love our new pool and we are very pleased with every aspect of our experience with PP&S. We highly recommend using Premier Pools & Spas to anyone in this area looking to build a new pool. Thanks very much to everyone at PP&S for a job well done!

We met with Jeremy to begin our pool journey. He was up front and honest from the beginning. He guided us in everyway to help us make all the right decisions. We trusted him from the start! Once the planning was complete, Ryan contacted us and has been available day and night to answer any of our questions. He gives us a play by play of what to expect and worked around our work schedules. It has been a great and smooth experience from the beginning. We couldn't be happier with our experience and our pool! Highly recommend Premier Pools and Spas.

FAQs

Yes. Pool construction in Texas requires a building permit. In Corpus Christi, permitting runs through the city’s Development Services department. For properties outside city limits, it runs through your county building department. We handle all of it as part of the project.

It depends on where your property sits. Sandy soil is common closer to the beach, while inland lots tend to run into expansive clay. The bigger factor for most homeowners is whether you’re near the coast or bay, since that’s where a high water table shows up most often. When it does, we typically need to bring in well points during excavation, and that adds a minimum of $7,500 to the job. It’s one of the first things we look for on the site visit, so you’ll know about it before you ever see a quote.

It can. Salt air accelerates corrosion on certain metals and degrades some finishes faster than in inland markets. We account for this during the design phase by specifying equipment and materials rated for coastal environments. It’s worth raising during your consultation if your property is close to the water.

Yes. The Coastal Bend doesn’t have a meaningful freeze season, and construction continues through winter without the cold-weather delays you’d see in Tennessee or Virginia. Wind is the main weather variable in this market, but it rarely stops construction entirely.

Gunite is built on-site to whatever shape and size you want. Fiberglass is a pre-manufactured shell that installs faster and needs less ongoing maintenance. In our market, gunite is the clear favorite. About 90% of what we build is gunite, and it comes down to price and customization. The homeowners who come to us wanting fiberglass have usually already done their research and know it’s the right fit for them, but for most people here, gunite wins out.

See the Pool Types We Build section above, or take our Pool Type Quiz for a recommendation based on your situation.

It depends on the neighborhood and the design. In coastal areas like Padre Island and Port Aransas, outdoor living is central to how homes are valued and buyers there expect it. We also see strong pool activity in Corpus Christi’s London neighborhood.

Further inland, it depends more on the specific neighborhood. Build it because you’re going to use it, but a well-built pool in the right part of Corpus Christi is unlikely to hurt your resale position.
